Stride Metronome

Who we are

Stride Metronome is an iPhone app made by Vannin Technology Consulting Inc. ("we", "us"). Our website address is https://stridemetronome.com. This policy covers both the app and this website. The short version: the app keeps everything on your phone and we never see it, and this website collects only what any website collects to work.

The app: what it collects

Location. With your permission, Stride Metronome uses your phone's GPS during a session to measure how far you ran and walked and to draw the route on a map in your History. Location is only recorded while a session is running. The app never collects location in the background at any other time, and it never uses it for anything other than your own distance and route.

Your workouts. Each saved session (date, times, distances, pace, route and the settings you used) is stored in the app on your phone.

Your settings. Your cadence, interval times and preferences are stored on your phone.

Diagnostics log. The app keeps a small technical log on your phone about audio timing and GPS events during a session, to help us fix problems. It contains no personal information and never leaves your phone unless you choose to share it with us from the Settings screen.

The app: what it does not do

  • It has no account or sign-in.
  • It does not send your location, workouts or any other data to us or to anyone else. There is no server behind the app.
  • It contains no advertising and no analytics or tracking software of any kind.
  • It does not use the microphone. Spoken cues are generated by the voice built into iOS.
  • It does not read your contacts, photos, health data or anything else on your phone.

The app: where your data lives

All app data is stored in the app's private storage on your phone. If you delete the app, the data is deleted with it. If you use iCloud backup for your device, Apple includes the app's data in your backup under Apple's terms; we have no access to it. You can delete any saved workout from the History screen at any time.

If you have chosen to share analytics with app developers in your iPhone settings, Apple may give us anonymous crash reports and usage statistics. These come from Apple, contain no personal information, and are governed by Apple's privacy policy.

This website: cookies

This website is a small information site. It has no visitor accounts and no comments. It may set a temporary cookie to check whether your browser accepts cookies, and the software it runs on (WordPress and our hosting) may set cookies needed for the site to display correctly. None of these identify you.

This website: visitor logs

Like every website, our hosting provider records standard server logs when you visit: your IP address, browser type, the pages you requested and the time. These logs are used only to keep the site running and secure, and are kept for a limited time by the hosting provider.

This website: embedded content

Pages on this site may include embedded content from other websites, such as a video or the App Store badge. Embedded content behaves exactly as if you had visited the other website, which may collect data about you, use cookies and track your interaction with that content.

Who we share your data with

Nobody. We do not sell, rent or share personal information. The app sends us nothing, and the website's server logs stay with our hosting provider.

Children

Stride Metronome is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them. Since the app collects nothing from anyone, no information about a child would reach us in any case.

What rights you have over your data

Under Canadian privacy law you can ask what personal information we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, and ask how it has been used. Because the app stores everything on your own phone, the practical answer is that we hold nothing, and you can delete it yourself at any time. If you have sent us an email, we keep that correspondence until the matter is closed and will delete it on request.

Changes

If a future version of the app or this website ever collects or shares information differently, we will update this policy before that change goes live and note the date at the top of this page.
